Safety and sustainability
Health, safety and environmental protection are part of how we plan every job
Health and safety on our sites
Our HSE management system is built around prevention, ongoing monitoring of site conditions and getting everyone on site involved.
- Regular risk assessments as work progresses
- PPE is mandatory for everyone on site, visitors included
- Every incident and near miss is reported and followed up
- Continuous safety training for staff and sub-contractors
High-risk work
Some activities get their own controls and planning before anyone starts:
- Excavation works
- Hot works
- Heavy lifting operations
- Working at heights
Building responsibly
We aim to keep the environmental cost of our work down while still delivering durable infrastructure, in line with Kenya's sustainability goals.
- Environmentally friendly materials where the specification allows
- Solar and other renewable energy on site and in finished buildings
- Water conservation and recycling on site
- Less construction waste, and responsible disposal of what's left
- Local labour and local suppliers first
- Lower fuel use and emissions in how we run plant and haulage
Using technology on site
- Building Information Modelling (BIM) for planning, cost control and coordination
- Drones for surveying and monitoring large sites
- Smart building systems for energy efficiency
- Modern construction equipment for productivity and quality control
